Advocates of Justice for All
A member of Justice Behind Bars will interview the person whose civil rights have been violated.
Using the information obtained during the interview, JBB will conduct legal research to identify relevant and current laws pertinent to the claim.
Each lesson plan is individually-tailored based on the specific facts of the claim. Although each case requires a personalized lesson plan, the process for each case is typically the same.

We then create a personalized legal lesson plan consisting of relevant cases, sample documents, and explanations of the current stage of litigation and provide it to the inmate.
The individual then uses our lesson plans to draft their own legal documents. After the documents have been drafted, JBB can then edit and return the documents.
Our goal at JBB is to help individuals achieve meaningful access to our justice system. JBB is run by Jeff Strutynski, Alexandra Roche, and Seth York, three recent graduates from the City University of New York School of Law.
Justice Behind Bars meets with the individual so we can learn how their rights are being violated. We then do extensive legal research and create a personalized legal lesson plan to help guide the person through the civil litigation process. Each lesson plan contains relevant legal resources and sample documents. Finally, JBB will edit and make comments on legal documents that have been prepared.
Justice Behind Bars provides individuals with legal educational resources only. It does not provide individuals with legal representation. People who choose to use our services do not enjoy any attorney-client privileges with the members of Justice Behind Bars.
